Another beautiful large park that features lakes and thus a variety of shorebirds and ducks along with the many songbirds.
It is a lot of walking but the trails are nice and well groomed with good signage.
There weren't as many birds as expected but we did see quite a few anyway.

The fun part of this park was a suspended bridge that let you see the forest from above. To get on it though we had to climb a ton of stairs which I managed to do without stopping. But once on top, I had to catch my breath. As a side note, the next day my legs were quite sore from that climb - it sucks to get old! It was a really hot day but on top of that bridge it was breezy and cooler.
The whole reason we went to that park was to see the Rio Grande River. The funny thing is that we had already seen it crossing the bridge to Mexico but hadn't realized that's what it was. I had imagined a big river but in reality it's quite narrow.

There were a few more interesting sightings.

Spanish moss which we hadn't really seen much of it elsewhere unlike in Florida |

Tiny leaves on long branches. Weird looking bush. |
Another park we enjoyed seeing.
This was in February and the fields were already growing produce!
