Meanwhile at our Texas home

At our campground, spring has sprung (March 2019). The Purple Martins are choosing nests and have to fight off the Sparrows that want to establish themselves in the same nestboxes.

These cute pink flowers grow everywhere - low to the ground, they are wild.

The glistening blue feathers of the Purple Martin are only visible in the sun. Otherwise, they look black.

We continue to visit the bird park near us to walk the dogs. It's a good place to be when it's hot as most of the trails are in the shade. Unfortunately, most of the birds are also in the shade making most of the pictures grainy. It's beautiful to see nature waking up and flowers blooming everywhere.

I finally got a picture of the Green Kingfisher. I had seen a male when I didn't have my camera with me but I was happy to capture a nice female. We also saw the Ringed Kingfisher, a beautiful colourful large bird and although I was determined to get a picture (would follow his calls, etc.) I never got the pleasure.

It's not a rope! Branches that twisted around each other.

Better seen here.

The wasps also enjoy the oranges put out for the birds.

We were so lucky to have this beautiful park so close to us! We saw more species of birds (many not identified) than anywhere else. And the dogs loved sniffing all the different scents!
